2nd place for Rob Wilson despite chicanes, hay bales and darkness

As season end of the Junior Rally Championships approaches, Rob Wilson and team achieved a solid 2nd place in the Cadwell Stages despite a close call with a hay bale. He reports:

“The penultimate round of the championship is now done and dusted! We came to the rally just wanting to be on the pace and save the car for next weekend’s two day rally.

"We really, really enjoyed the first two stages and found ourselves in first place by 7 seconds, despite braking issues and chicane troubles. The next two stages were a bit tighter and we couldn’t find our flow, we then found ourselves equal 1st with Elliot Payne.

“It was at this point we found out we had a 30 second penalty for hitting the hay bale when we had braking issues. We took this in our stride and realised we could achieve a solid second place.

“The next four stages took place in the dark where we took 24 seconds out of Elliot Payne to finish the day 6 seconds off the lead. Pace yet again, but being a circuit, they are very strict on their hay bales!

“Friday (23rd November) we are heading up to Anglesey for the final round of the championship which goes into the night on Saturday and we are rallying most of the day Sunday.

“After this event the plan is to improve the car over the winter for the 2019 season.”

Well done on that result and good luck in the final event of the season!
