Rob Wilson continued his eventful Junior Rally Championship bid at Caerwent on the last day of September, hanging on through near disaster and delays to take 3rd place. No sooner had he finished the event, he was off to complete his Duke of Edinburgh Award.
He sent us this report:
“The rally started with a 5 second stage win! This really kick-started our rally and we knew the pace was immediately there. Over the next few stages, our main competitor was going all out and we just kept to our own rally and pushed to a limit we saw as safe and reasonable.
“Over the first 4 stages we took two stage wins. Then disaster! We went the wrong way at a junction losing us a bit of time and then later in the stage we came across a senior car which had re-joined the stage with gearbox issues and held us up for over a minute. This left us in a safe and secure 3rd position so on the final stage no risks were taken and the 3rd place was ours.
“Overall I’m extremely pleased with the result and am thoroughly looking forward to going to Pembrey in two weeks where we hope for yet another good result!”
Well done Rob and team. Looking good for the next challenge.
