Car Production Up in 2016

It would appear that the SPAL UK team is always on the ball with the automotive scene and here’s the reason why. Even at this festive time of year, the bedtime reading of choice is the European Car & LCV Production Outlook Report (December 2016) from the SMMT.

Still, it makes for uplifting reading as European vehicle production is up on last year by 700,000 units overall – an increase of 3.4% and in the UK is expected to continue to rise from 1.8m currently to 2m vehicles by 2020.

The best news though is that Brexit has had no immediate impact on production with a number of major manufacturers stating their commitment to stay and that of course is very positive for suppliers.

JLR is singled out as one of those forecasting growth in the UK at the same time as expanding globally while at the super-premium and exotic vehicle end, production is set to remain and grow. Although there are many factors which could alter the picture, let’s hope it remains rosy for the time being!
