Using 3D laser scanning, he designed a mount for two of SPAL’s high performance electric fans to be fitted to a new radiator frame.

The result was a neat solution for keeping a powerful V8 engine cool in all conditions. As one commentator chipped in: “What a great idea, many a classic can't cope with modern stationary traffic.”

More than pleased with the installation, Jonny said: “I love it when technology progresses engineering and allows car customising and restorations to be easier.

“The V8 is a 5.7 'small block' with a serpentine belt kit, so I wanted to delete the crank fan and opt for something more efficient and compact.

“The Impala Lowrider is a ridiculous project that I started in 2004 and still haven't yet finished. Thankfully it is on the final hurdle before hitting the road in 2019, which will be the first time it's been on the road since the early 1980s. It looks a lot better than when I found it in an Oklahoma salvage yard with a termite nest where the engine should have been...”
