The Learning Curve

On the rally circuit it is not just down to your own performance but all those racing with you and the hand of fate. Rob Wilson gave this report of the Fairfield Merlin Stages.

“Another learning curve this weekend!

“The weekend started well with a one stage win in the first two stages which put us clearly in the lead after that. Then disaster hit the other crews when our two main competitors managed to roll during the stage putting us 30 seconds in the lead.

“We then went into stage 4 knowing that if we just kept our heads down then we could get the win. Sadly this did not go to plan when we mysteriously got a puncture on the first corner of the circuit! We lost loads of time and ended that stage in 8th place.

“We then went into the final stage with the aim of finishing the rally but came away with a 25 second stage win and ended the day in 7th place! A sign of what could be in the future. The next event is in four weeks at Cadwell Park where we will be joined by the Scottish Juniors!”

Good luck Rob for another 'eventful' stage.
