We’re once again in awe of Linda Chen who after months of training took on ultra-cycling challenge, Race Across America last month (June 2019).
Linda was 1 of 8 riders in the Mind Over Matter team. Living up to its name, the team pushed through the pain, exhaustion and self-doubt to finish in the top 10!
The 3,000-mile non-stop race passed through 12 US states, from California to Annapolis in Maryland. The cyclists climbed over 170,000 feet and in temperatures ranging from -5 to +45 degrees Celsius.
The challenge was made all the more meaningful for the team - all of whom have experienced physical or mental trauma. Tackling the course in a relay format the determined riders were able to support each other across the finish line to secure 8th position in the team race.
Commenting on the achievement, Linda said:
“RAAM was an amazing experience - it was a huge challenge with an incredible group of people.” An impressive result, many congratulations from all us cycling fans at SPAL.
