Our Junior Rally contender was on top form on Sunday competing in the Fairfield Merlin stages at Pembrey; overcoming gear trouble and other problems to claim third place in the race and one event away from an overall Championship win.
He told us:
“Firstly, I’d like to thank the whole of SPAL UK for its support and amazing passion for the sport.
“This weekend really topped off an incredible but tough year. On this event alone we had intercom failure on the final stage and gear selector problems which made the result at the end of the day truly remarkable.
“The day started with a very tricky first stage in which we set the second quickest time. Throughout the day we had continuous problems catching up with other cars which dropped us down the leader board.
“After this, we let the top two battle it out while we just focused on our championship. This however does not take away from their fantastic drive!
“After a difficult day we came away with a very convincing third and an advantage of over 2 minutes which means we now just have to cross the start line of the next rally to win the championship officially!”
Well done Rob and Martin, we can’t wait for the icing on cake at the final rally – the Glyn Memorial Stages in Anglesey 23-24th November.
