At the Glyn Memorial Rally in Anglesey last weekend, Rob Wilson and team mate Martin Haggett were finally crowned the Junior Rally Champions of 2019, topping the scoreboard with 180 points and leading by 14 points.
Rob has been keeping us on the edge of our seats this season as he met head on the challenges of the sometime hazardous rally circuit. He got in touch to tell us how he triumphed in the end and to talk about his plans to go to the next level.
“What an incredible season? We knew we were in for a tough challenge when we set our sights on being 2019 Junior Rally champions but nothing could prepare us for the level of competition this year.
“Right from the off, it was so competitive with only seconds separating us. As the year progressed and the wins started coming in, we knew we were in with a chance but we were prepared for a fight to the end.
“With 4 wins and multiple podiums, we can now say we are officially 2019 Junior Rally champions. It’s an amazing feeling that will take a while to get used to! What an awesome job the whole team has done. Late nights, early starts and long days, but it was all worth it.
“Most importantly however, I would like to thank anyone who supported us this year - it was truly wonderful to work with such great companies - and we look forward to working alongside you again.
“For 2020 we are still securing a budget but we hope to be moving up in the sport.”
Well done to Rob and Martin, the dedication certainly paid off. Can’t wait to follow the action in 2020!
