Rob Wilson Scoops UK Young Rally Driver of the Year

Our young protégé Rob Wilson is having quite a year and last week was granted an incredible opportunity as he was invited to attend the Professional World Motorsport Awards where he had been shortlisted for the UK Young Rally Driver of the Year and subsequently took home the trophy.

This award has been a stepping stone for many drivers, namely Chris Ingram who just won the European Rally Championship.

He told us: “Winning the award was a significant milestone in my career and I hope it enables me to further my 2020 plans.

As for next year’s plans he is moving forward but it’s taking some time and he has been trying to further his contacts to get more support behind him.

Along with his recent induction into the Motorsport UK Academy, Rob Wilson is clearly going places and he can certainly count on SPAL’s continued backing in 2020.

Meanwhile, coming up this weekend is the final round of the Junior Rally Championship. With 30 competitors in the junior category, it promises to be the most competitive of the year and Rob is in pole position!
