SPAL takes up a two-wheel challenge

Team SPAL made up the 15,000 riders taking part in the first Birmingham Velo which covered 100 miles of roadways across the Black Country, Worcestershire and Staffordshire.

A largely picturesque route it involved a fair degree of incline, presenting quite a challenge even for seasoned riders.

Raising funds for major national and West Midlands’ charities, the knot of cyclists in the SPAL jersey got separated from the peloton at the start and so had to press on solo; employing the technique of talking to other riders to offset the muscle pain.

SPAL UK MD, Matthew Morris led the field describing it as ‘an amazing day’ and has already signed up to the 2018 event.
