ULM Re-thinks Cooling

It was great to hear from a Formula Student team we have supported over several years returning to us for the 2018 season with a different approach to engine cooling.

On top of developing its second generation monocoque chassis, University of Liverpool Motorsport (ULM) is planning an integrated arrangement with the radiator and the fan elements to maximise cooling within the newly designed aerodynamic space.

ULM Aerodynamics Lead & Assets and Logistics Manager, Cameron Jones said:

“We have been using SPAL Automotive fans for several seasons now with great success. We took a significant step last year to produce the new chassis which led to another successful competition with no cooling problems. This year we wanted to take our design a stage further to help with weight distribution of components and an enhanced cooling performance.”

SPAL is very impressed with the concept and wishes the team every success for the season.
