In a new car, in a whole new class, competing the Cambrian Rally (8th February) was bound to be a challenge for Rob Wilson Motorsport but a few gremlins in the mix didn’t knock him too far off course to claim a respectable 3rd place.
Here is Rob’s account of the event:
“This weekend marked the first round of the BTRDA and Welsh Rally Championships in which we competed in the R2 Class - one of the most hotly contested classes of the weekend.
“We started off well but I immediately realised that I couldn’t hear Martin very clearly as the intercom was picking up so much noise. This affected our confidence yet we were still going really well, setting some excellent times.
“After a long road section, we arrived at the Great Orme - a famous tarmac stage - which had to be competed on with gravel tyres! No easy task, but we stayed smooth and got through to the midday service.
“We went into the final stage in 4th place in the R2 Cup, so we had a really good run through to gain a place to third and take away a podium at our first event of the year and my first on gravel.
“We are already excited about the next rally.”
So are we Rob after that impressive start!
