Congratulations are in order for Maggie Lech, BDM for the transport refrigeration sector at SPAL Automotive UK who passed her ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership & Management while juggling her demanding job during a time of peak business activity.
This intensive course comprised of two modules: • Giving Briefings & Making Presentations • Understanding Leadership
Scoring an impressive 93% and 84% respectively it was worth all the hard work. Maggie says:
“I found the assignment analysing leadership absolutely fascinating because you can’t exclusively rely on theory it must be based on practice too. It meant looking at the company managers here at SPAL and at my own style of management. Recently I have been in charge of the new starters at SPAL and have learned you need to adapt your style depending on the person you are working with. Sometimes you need to be more hands on because your direct input is needed and other times mentoring is the best approach.”
The course was also an opportunity to brush up on technology. Being used to presenting on Microsoft Teams at work, the module was conducted over Zoom and Maggie found establishing an unseen audience and trying to involve them proved a bit of challenge.
“I was so close to scoring full marks on that module, which is a bit frustrating, but I am always happy to build on my skills and it means I will better prepared next time!”.
