We all know that rallying can be a tricky game requiring a mixture of skill and luck to take whatever the course throws at you; but also needed is determination to keep going if something goes wrong.
Rob Wilson is clearly made of the right stuff as his race at the weekend did not go to plan and yet he still managed to stay the course and secure 6th place in Round 2 of the BTRDA Rallye R2 Cup, the Malcolm Wilson Rally.
He told us:
“Well it’s fair to say it didn’t go our way this weekend, with two punctures and a broken gearbox, meaning all chances of a result were shattered. Still we kept pushing despite not being able to use second gear, which is a pain in a car where keeping the revs up is so essential. It was no fault of the team it was just that luck simply wasn’t with us.
“We still managed 6th in the R2 class and clocked up some points - so not all bad.
“We are now going to overhaul the car for Round 3 in just over a month!”
That’s the spirit Rob we know you will come back stronger in the next race.
