SPAL supports engineering talent

With the selection panel for the recipient of the 2021 SPAL Automotive UK scholarship with Harper Adams University coming up next week, the company’s MD Matthew Morris speaks about his enthusiasm for supporting budding engineering talent.

"This is our second year supporting students at the award-winning agricultural university which is a reflection of the importance of the sector and our commitment to investing in young people; not to mention we thoroughly enjoyed our experience the first time around. Being part of the interview panel to choose the winner, it was clear that the students had additional skills along with their problem-solving abilities.

Student project: to bring agricultural vehicles up to Stage V and Euro 6 emissions standards

"We set them a task around bringing agricultural vehicles up to Stage V and Euro 6 emissions standards and it was interesting to hear their responses to a real-world issue; showing an understanding of how to achieve it as well as being able to communicate their approach to resolving it.

"The winning student kindly kept us up to date with their progress in a year like no other as they adapted to the new studying environment, helped out in the pandemic as well as lending a hand with their family.

"SPAL believes it is vital to foster the next generation of engineers, who after all will be part of the electric revolution as well as the very latest innovations in hydrogen powered agricultural machines.

Accordingly, we can’t wait to meet the new candidates for this year’s scholarship!"

In the meantime, we wish good luck to the 2021 Harper Adams contenders.
