Supermarket Home Delivery Pursues Green Mission

Interesting to read that Tesco’s bid to cut in half the carbon emissions of the average UK shopping basket took another step forward with the introduction of 2 of electric HGVs to the fleet - see Move Electric

The HGVs will be part of a pilot for assessing the feasibility of moving away from dirty diesel for a roll out to other parts of the country.

Already committed to a fully electric home delivery fleet (of 5,500 vehicles) by 2028, with the first tranche of 17 all electric vehicles launched around COP26 in Glasgow as part of the city’s transition to zero emissions, Tesco is leading field.

Matthew Morris, MD SPAL Automotive UK says: “This great news for a low carbon future and where Tesco goes other chains are sure to follow. As a leading supplier of fans for refrigerated transport this is also great news for SPAL!”
