Great to hear from University of Strathclyde Motorsport (USM) getting in touch with an update ‘as the memories from Formula Student 2021 competition fade and the new university semester approaches.’
Without the crowds to cheer them on it must have been a very different feel and the supreme behind the scenes efforts were still hampered by Covid restrictions and yet reported it was the team’s best FSUK result ever to come 9th Overall, 2nd Overall in 2 Year Vehicle Class and 2nd in Design.
SPAL provides essential air-cooling components
Already underway with plans for the coming race season, the team has restructured to create new roles and spread the workload.
“With the team's first electric vehicle build beginning soon as Covid restrictions ease, and the start of a 2-year design cycle for the USM23 car, there is so much not to miss!
"We would like to thank SPAL for their ongoing support, which included essential air-cooling components for the creation of our first electric powertrain. However, due to limited access to our university lab over the past year, the debut of our first electric vehicle has been delayed until next year. Nevertheless, the help of SPAL has once again remained paramount in the design phase of our electric vehicle this year and the fans that SPAL has kindly supplied us with will be used to full effect in the season ahead.”
