Rob Wilson’s racing season continues with its ups and downs but after having to pull out of the Trackrod Rally last month for the want of gearbox parts, he was determined not to miss out on the Cambrian Rally, part of the BTRDA Rally Series, coming up at the end of October.
He updated us on his trials:
“Sorry that you haven’t heard from me in a while, I have been spending a lot of time searching for a replacement gearbox for the Fiesta R2. About two weeks ago we bought one from Italy and I was going to get it imported into the UK but the deal fell apart as the gearbox never arrived, after a problem with customs. So now we are involved in the long process of finally getting hold of it."
Rob Wilson takes on the Cambrian Rally in a Peugeot 205
“Subsequently, it looked like we wouldn’t be at the Cambrian Rally (30th October) but this event is one of my favourites and I have decided to take it on in the Peugeot 205 – the same car we used in the Hills Ford Three Shires Stages to much success.
This car has a lot of potential for great results and took us to a top 40 finish overall in the 150-entry strong national field.
The car is equipped with a robust differential which we believe will suit these gravel stages a lot more than tarmac!"
So, bring on the Cambrian in a 205 GTI.”Sounds like a good plan Rob, best of luck.
