Although the final format of the 2021 Formula Student competition remains fluid in terms of which parts of it will be virtual or actual, to prepare for every eventuality, teams are forging ahead with their race car builds.
With the 2020 competition event disrupted by the pandemic, Oxford Brookes Racing got in touch this week to confirm the supply of high-performance cooling fans for its first ever electric car, Charles Boileve, Head of Business Development asking:
“I hope that SPAL Automotive are still interested in continuing this exciting partnership with OBR as we work hard towards electrification and a better tomorrow.”
SPAL keen to be involved with OBR
SPAL is of course keen to be involved and was fascinated by an account provided by the team on the important role of thermal management in motorsport and in particular the challenges of meeting the intense cooling demands of electric cars.
March 2021 update with easing of lockdown restrictions
Update 3 March 2021
To our loyal partners and supporters of Oxford Brookes Racing, I am pleased to announce that based on the recent news on the easing of lockdown restrictions, the IMechE has confirmed that the Formula Student UK competition will go ahead in July and OBR will go racing.
Despite these trials and tribulations, the team is more united than ever and is committed to performing at the expected highest level. We would like to thank each and every one of our partners for the continuous support throughout the pandemic.
Our next step is to finish building OBR21 and to begin the testing phase of the season. We look forward to furthering our mission which is to continue building a multi-year legacy.
I would like to personally thank you for sticking with us; we are going to get through this pandemic together.
