Suspension issues can't stop Rob Wilson in the Cambrian Rally

Over Hallowe’en weekend our determined rally driver Rob Wilson and co-driver Martin Haggett, competed in the Visit Conwy Cambrian Rally in North Wales in Snowdonia.

Fielding a different car than usual did present some challenges though, as he explained:

“We started the weekend with some Wales Rally GB stages. The first stage was Gwdyir which was a tough stage because it was a really rough track and we were running tarmac suspension on a Peugeot 205 GTi.

“Despite having stiff springs on our 205, we pushed on and put in some competitive stage times way ahead of our seeding in the B11 Class. This class is mostly contested by 2L MK2 Escorts up against which we realistically didn't really stand a chance, but we didn’t give up."

Rallynuts Stages in mid-Wales in two weeks' time

“Later in the day we improved our pace and ended up coming 29th overall in the Rally - a great achievement despite all of the issues we had all day with the suspension.

“In two weeks, it’s the Rallynuts Stages in mid-Wales and once again we will be competing in the Peugeot 205. We are looking forward to the challenge and the stages should be a bit smoother and more flowing which might suit this car. One day we hope to have a gearbox for the R2 to get us running at a higher level again.”

Always entertaining to hear your post event reports Rob. Well done this time and good luck in the next rally.
