Harper Adams scholar reports progress

This week we had a letter from Max Finch, winner of the SPAL Automotive UK Scholarship with Harper Adams university. The engineering student is hitting the books hard to keep on track with his studies and tells us he intends to use his £2,500 funding to develop his 3-D printing skills for an exciting project in open-source prosthetics.

He says: “I really think it’s possible to get a functioning usable product with just a few more month’s work.”

He is also looking forward to ‘getting out in the real world and start contributing as an engineer’ as he prepares for his work placement in September with NiftyLift, manufacturers of mobile elevating work platforms. He will have the chance of sampling many different departments of the business ‘so that he can become a more rounded engineer as a result’.

SPAL fan fitted to 30 year-old Land Rover

With a lot going on Max has still had time ‘out on the tools’ fixing his 30-year-old Land Rover which included fitting a SPAL fan to his radiator.

He reports how impressed he is with the effectiveness of the fan despite the age of the 4x4.

Of course we know that when quality parts are added to quality engineered vehicles, performance is assured.

Good luck with the remaining term Max and be sure to keep us posted on your further engineering adventures!
