Catching up with our pro-drifter Stuart Egdell, has been on the circuit both home and away. In June he competed as a wildcard in the 3rd round of the Championnat de France de Drift and sent this latest incident packed report:
Friday's practice
Friday’s practice was intense in the 30°+ heat. A few mechanical gremlins crept in throughout the day but my team always kept on top of it. With only one session left to go, we discovered a leaking oil cooler, luckily the team spotted it instantly and shut the car down. A 1-hour trip to a local garage and the replacement cooler was fitted with just enough time to spare for one more practice lap.
Saturday morning
Saturday morning I was straight out for qualifying, we were second up just behind fellow wildcard Fielding Shredder. My score was enough to get me into the battles where I came up against Wilson Delagrainge in the Top 32. This is where I bowed out of competition for the day but this gave us a great chance to interact with the fans and enjoy the rest of the competition.
Sunday's report
Sunday saw a bit rain come through in the morning and even with having no wet practice on the track, I still managed to get a scored run down, but due to a silly mistake on my part it counted for zero.
Run 2, I knew I had to give it my all and threw an aggressive entry. Sadly, the car didn’t play ball and we lost a boost pipe through clip 3. The straighten was enough to deserve a second zero and that was the end of my competition weekend. Once again this gave us the chance to interact with all of the fans, and also to have a look around all of the great builds that the local driver had brought to the event. Thank you so much to the Championnat de France de Drift team for all their hard work, the judges, start line marshal, the griding girls and guys and all the behind-the-scenes staff. What an amazing event, I truly can't wait to return!
